A new $18.5 million federal transportation grant to improve South Jersey's infrastructure is set to create thousands of jobs.

New Jersey Congressmen Rob Andrews and Frank LoBiondo are set to announce the project during an afternoon conference call Wednesday.

The funds will support the ongoing Delaware River Rail and Port Improvement effort headed by the South Jersey Port Corporation, Salem County and Conrail. 

The number of jobs expected to be created include 1,700 construction jobs and 2,500 full time jobs.
