A Union County teacher is the winner of $100,000 in the Jeopardy's Teachers Tournament.

Jason Sterlacci, a 6th grade English teacher at the Burnet Middle School in Union Township, won the grand prize in the final that aired Friday night. He topped Kaberi Chakrabarty from Illinois, and Iowa teacher Jill Gilbert.

Jason, who said he had watched the show since he was 6-years-old, also made a point of recognizing a security guard named Charles who straightened out his tie while he was sequestered backstage and helped calm his nerves.

"My students are boisterous, and I mean that in a good way. It's gonna be a party," Sterlacci said of the reaction he expects at the Union County school.

Sterlacci also received a $2,500 grant from Farmers Insurance to fund an education project and a spot in Jeopardy's annual Tournament of Champions.

Sterlacci celebrated his win at home watching the Mets play the Colorado Rockies in Denver according to a tweet.
