More than 2,000 high school and post-secondary students competed in the Skills USA 2015 New Jersey Championships.

Throughout five different venues, including the Garden State Exhibition Center in Somerset, participants competed in categories such as construction, hospitality, and baking. Spectators watched as some students worked on automobiles, decorated cakes, and styled mannequins.

Skills USA, formerly known as the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, is national organization that prepares students for technical, skilled, and service careers, according to multiple spokespeople.

Winners from this year’s event will go on to the national competition in Louisville, Kentucky.
