Rocky got out of his East Rutherford home on Friday and was found crying up a 45-foot evergreen on Sunday. A breakdown in communication failed to mobilize the fire department.

A neighbor on Tuesday noticed the owner of Uncle Matty's Tree Service cutting down a nearby tree. Pelio Barbieri agreed to help, but needed someone to go up in the bucket.

Neighbor James Mlynarz volunteered. Mlynarz tells The Record newspaper he had lost his cat over the weekend.

Rocky mauled Mlynarz and jumped from the bucket 20 feet off the ground. But the 3-year-old ran home into owner Teresa Sciacca's arms.
