Chesterfield Police Chief Kyle Wilson says 43-year-old Brian Friedman was arrested Friday and charged with creating false public alarm and other offenses.

The chief says Friedman called police on April 8 to say that he had just been confronted and stabbed by a man in his garage. He said the man told him, "I'm going to set you free" before running away.

Police from and two police dogs searched for the suspect, and a nearby school was locked down.

Wilson says Friedman had some wounds that are now believed to have been self-inflicted.

Friedman is free on bail and did not return a message left at his home.
