New Jersey gas prices down slightly according to AAA Mid-Atlantic

TRENTON (AP) — Motorists are seeing slightly lower prices at the pumps in New Jersey.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the state on Friday was $2.59, down a penny from last week. That's also much lower than the price from a year ago, when motorists were paying $3.55.

The national average price on Friday was $2.76, down a penny from last week. That's also much lower than the national average from a year ago, when motorists were paying $3.64.

Analysts say it's not clear if pump prices will rise or fall in the coming weeks, noting that demand often increases in the summer months as drivers take to the road for vacations and other travel.
