Two neighbors rescued a 97-year-old woman and her classic Mustang from a two-alarm fire at her Belleville home on Saturday — but a family dog perished in the blaze, according to reports.

Donna Rizzolo told ABC 7 she and her husband were out for a walk around 7 p.m. when they saw the fire on Belmont Avenue and knew the woman lived on the second floor and carried her out the front door. Other neighbors knew she owned the Mustang that she loves and got it out as well.

NJ.com reports that a dog who lived on the second floor was not able to be rescued.

Belleville Fire Capt. Frank Papaianni told the newspaper that the fire spread to the rest of the house from a couch in the rear.

Two other men safely escaped the fire.
