Nearly 150 American Babies Are Named After a Popular ‘Game Of Thrones’ Character

I have never enjoyed a television or movie character so much and thought, "I think I'll name my first born after after him or her," but apparently, some 'Game Of Thrones' fans just can't help themselves. 146 baby girls were given the name Khaleesi in the past year.

According to the Baby Name Wizard Laura Wattenberg,

That's a 450% jump in the name's usage from 2011, and before that year it was completely unknown.

The term Khaleesi means "queen" in the made-up language of Dothraki from the hit HBO series. The Khaleesi is a young woman named Daenerys Targaryan, played by Emilia Clarke, and is also the mother of three dragons.
