There are just as many ninth seeds as No. 1 seeds still alive in the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

Malcolm Armstead scored 14 points and No. 9 Wichita State earned its first trip to the Final Four since 1965 by defeating second seed Ohio State 70-66. The Shockers led by 20 with 11 minutes left before the Buckeyes whittled the difference to three. Fred Van Vleet helped the Shockers hold off Ohio State by hitting a big basket with one minute left.

Van Vleet finished with 12 points as Wichita ended the Buckeyes' 11-game winning streak.

Wichita State will have five days to prepare for the winner of Sunday's game between Louisville and Duke.

The Syracuse Orange are going to the Final Four for the first time in a decade after holding their opponent to a season low in points for the second straight game.

James Southerland scored 16 points and the Orange allowed Marquette to shoot just 23 percent in a 55-39 win over the Golden Eagles. Syracuse guard Michael Carter-Williams was named the regional's top player after contributing 12 points and eight rebounds to the East Regional final victory.

Marquette shot 3-for-24 from three-point range in scoring eight fewer points than its previous season-low. Vander Blue and Davante Gardner each scored 14 points, but Blue was 3-for-15 from the floor.

Syracuse next plays the winner of Sunday's game between Florida and Michigan.
