A statue found near the Burlington Gulf Station is being investigated as a possible hate crime because it could represent a stereotype.

Some say the statue is a reference to Middle Eastern people groups, as it appears to be wearing a burqa while holding an assault rifle. I think it resembles a military style babushka doll.

A listener suggested the statue may be a variation of the "combat gnome" trend, where people dress up their lawn ornaments like those pictured below.
