MTA Tolls, Fares Go Up Today [VIDEO]

If you are making a trip to Brooklyn or riding the subway be prepared to pay more as a MTA toll and fare increase goes into effect today.

The base fare for a MTA subway ride rises from $2.50 to $2.25; the 30-day unlimited-ride MetroCard will cost $112, up from $104 and the 7-day unlimited-ride MetroCard goes up a dollar to $30.

On the roads, the toll on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge between Staten Island and Brooklyn is now $10.66 for New York-based EZ Pass users while cash users will pay $15.00. EZ Pass users with New Jersey-based accounts will pay the cash rate.
