A sure sign of an amazing teacher is the ability to have students love you even when you're not a pushover. That's the case with this weeks nominee for "Jersey's Favorite Teacher," Christian Brothers Academy's Mrs. Whall.

According to the student who nominated her, Sam Weber, she's the most dedicated teacher he's ever had. Sam says that Mrs. Whall has that unique combination of being tough, yet caring and fair. She understands the value of positive motivation, even treating kids to an occasional breakfast for a fun reward.

Most notably, Sam says Mrs. Whall went through a very difficult period recently when her mother was ill and eventually passed away. Despite the difficulty she must have been facing, she not only soldiered on, but her students and her commitment to them were so important to her, that she offered them extra after-school hours to make up for what she missed by tending to her mom. Because of all this, her students are happy and motivated to excel.
