Mr. Mister was a foursome from Phoenix, Arizona, who relocated to Los Angeles. All four members had been in-demand session musicians as well as composers. Their second album, “Welcome To The Real World” spawned two number one hits, “Broken Wings” and “Kyrie” (“Kyrie elesion” means "Lord, have mercy" in Greek). But I didn’t request either of those giant hits of Big Joe, no, I went for their third single, “Is It Love.”

That single was also a really big hit, peaking at #8 in 1986; it was also featured in the film, “Stakeout” with Richard Dreyfuss and Emilio Estevez. While Mr. Mister’s star shone brightly, it shone briefly: they had one final hit in 1987 and that was it, as far as chart success goes. No, Big Joe didn’t play it.
