State police say a motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Interstate 280 that left two other people injured.

The crash occurred around 12:45 a.m. Sunday on I-280 East in Harrison.

State police tell The Jersey Journal  that a 22-year-old Philadelphia man had pulled his car off the road to check his tires. Moments after he re-entered the highway, a motorcycle driven by 24-year-old Vincent Peraino of Clifton struck the rear of the car.

Peraino suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another motorcyclist, identified only as a 27-year-old Bronx, N.Y. man, injured his right arm when his motorcycle hit Peraino's bike. The car driver suffered neck and back injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
