Morris County Dentist Charged in Painkiller Scheme
Authorities have arrested a Morris County dentist and charged him with illegally prescribing and dispending a popular painkilling drug.
The state Division of Consumer Affairs along with federal drug authorities say Succasunna dentist Ronald Jupiter wrote prescriptions for Percocet for undercover officers who came to his office on multiple occasions. Jupiter allegedly never conducted a medical exam or checked for symptoms before prescribing the drug.
The 62-year-old faces numerous charges of dispensing and possessing with intent to dispense a controlled dangerous substance.
Authorities also allege Jupiter solicited the female undercover officers for sex. He was arrested Thursday at a hotel in Roxbury after allegedly setting up a liaison with the officers.
Jupiter was being held on $125,000 bail. It was not immediately known if he had retained an attorney.
