BRICK — More parts of a new interchange on the Garden State Parkway were opened to traffic on Thursday.

The entrance ramps from Burnt Tavern Road and Burrsville Road in Brick to the northbound Parkway at Exit 91 were opened up just before the morning commute. A new traffic signal at Burrsville Road and the Garden State Parkway was also activated.

Commuters will also be able to exit the Parkway onto Burrsville Road starting early Friday after 3 a.m.

The final part of the interchange will open Wednesday, with the completion of work on Lanes Mill Road and Burnt Tavern Road. At that time, the final signal configuration is expected to be activated.

"There are many working parts to this road project and they are all now coming together. The changes have been implemented gradually for the safety of our drivers," Ocean County Freeholder Director Joseph H. Vicari said in a statement.

With the opening of the ramps, the existing ramp to the northbound Parkway from Burnt Tavern Road will close, and the traffic signal at Burnt Tavern Road and Dave Reid Road will be deactivated.

Earlier this summer, the Turnpike Authority opened Exit 125 on the southbound side of the Parkway for Chevalier Avenue and Main Street Extension in Sayreville, just before the Raritan toll plaza. It was the Parkway's first E-ZPass-only exit.
