As if we didn’t have enough of them last year, expect more mosquitoes this year thanks to Superstorm Sandy.

The state Health Department says the storm has left behind wet debris piles and depressions from fallen trees. Mosquitoes will breed in standing water.

Health officials say it’s important to empty water from flower pots, birdbaths and swimming pool covers. The department also says remove discarded tires.

Maybe we should bring back those old mosquito trucks that sprayed the streets back in the day?
