Dritan Asani of Montgomery township no doubt wishes he had called anyone else other than the police when he found himself locked out of his car Monday. Not knowing a better option, he called law enforcement and they did indeed send an officer to help. After successfully getting Asani's car opened, Officer Joe Sles learned that Asani had a $1,000 warrant from Paterson and a $500 one from Wall Township. Out came the handcuffs. Sles placed Asani under arrest and took him in.

Oddly enough, I tried many years ago in the town of Rahway to get police assistance for a car lockout and I was told they didn't do such things. I've heard this from residents of other Jersey towns as well. I'm surprised to learn that any town still does this.
