Monopoly fans, AAA Mid-Atlantic is asking for your help in saving the race player token.  The race car was introduced in 1935 and is one of the earliest Monopoly game tokens.

It's now in danger of getting sent to the junkyard and needs assistance from loyal motoring fans.  AAA is launching a social media campaign to save it.

Hasbro, which makes Monopoly, plans to retire one of its classic game tokens; the race car, iron, Scottie dog, wheelbarrow, shoe, top hat, thimble or battleship.

The token with the lowest votes will be the one to go.  Fans can vote until February 5 for the one they want to keep.

"Without the race car, how else are you going to get to the shore?" said Tracy Noble, Manager of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic.  "The race car is the only automotive token in the Monopoly game.  Millions of motorists will be heartbroken if it disappears.  Imagine playing the game and not getting to be the race car.  It would be a crushing disappointment to everyone who dreams of getting behind the wheel as they race around Park Place.  AAA Mid-Atlantic is committed to keeping these wheels in the game."
