Steve’s Breakfast Place in Sea Bright had been a popular spot at the Jersey Shore since 1976. Their pork roll, egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches were legendary. It was owned and operated by Steve Garelli and his wife Joanne.

Tragically, Superstorm Sandy left them with nothing.

Producers from Food Network approached the couple and asked them to be on their upcoming season of "The Great Food Truck Race" in February and they were more than happy to take part.

According to Food Network, this is a competition that takes participants to various cities to cook food in the trucks for locals in a series of challenges. The team with the least amount of profits each week is knocked out of the eight-week competition. The winning team takes home their own food truck and $50,000 in prize money.

Here's a look at what we can expect.

Ilene Winters and Tim Boulous of Sea Bright and Joanne Garelli of North Long Branch make up the "Boardwalk Breakfast Empire." They can't tell us how far they got on the show, so we'll just have to watch and root for them when the show premiere's Sunday night August 18th at 9 p.m. on Food Network.
