A monk fought back when a thief took his wallet inside a gas station.

Philadelphia Police said a suspect took cash out of the hands of a 61-year-old man dressed in traditional monk garb as he stood in front of a lottery vending machine inside a Sunoco gas station on Broad Street.

The victim chased after the suspect as he ran out of the store to his dark silver  Ford Mustang with the Pennsylvania license plate JHY-3783 parked at one of the pumps. The two scuffled in the parking lot before the victim fell to the ground and cut his leg.

Anyone with information about the theft should call Philadelphia Police at 215.686.TIPS (8477).
