NEPTUNE CITY —The father of missing 19-year-old Sarah Stern is not giving up, despite searches over the weekend turned up nothing.

Several hundred people turned out in Ocean Grove on Saturday and headed to 14 locations, including Long Branch, Asbury Park, Belmar, Bradley Beach and Manasquan. State Police helicopters also returned to find any sign of Stern they could. Volunteers were instructed to keep an eye out for a red sweatshirt or windbreaker, a green iPhone and her driver license.

A smaller group of volunteers returned to the Jersey Shore to resume the search on Sunday.

Despite their efforts, Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Charles Webster said, nothing of significance was found during the search. But the investigation into Stern's disappearance continues.

"We are gonna keep searching and we are not giving up till Sarah is home. Our hearts are heavy with sadness because Sarah is still missing and everyday she is not found it get harder to face each day without her. Everyone loves Sarah," Michael Stern said.

He and Sarah Stern's cousin, Lauren Bahr, thanked the volunteers for coming out in the cold.

"We had a great turnout of support from the volunteers looking for any clues in the search for Sarah. Many people joined the search effort throughout the day. It was very cold and I would like to thank everyone for helping," Michael Stern said.

The young woman, described as an aspiring artist, has been missing for more than a week since her 1994 Oldsmobile was found parked on the Route 35 bridge over the Shark River Inlet in the early morning hours of Saturday, Dec. 3. No one has heard from her since, and Michael Stern is a loss to explain why she would want to leave.

Michael Stern and Bar also thanked St. Paul's Church of Neptune for opening its doors to volunteers who needed to get in from the cold on Saturday.
