The abominable acts committed in Paris on Friday night by Islamic State terrorists moved many to sorrow, but this morning we spoke with some young men who felt compelled to act.

One caller in particular, Thomas from Millstone, impressed me with his willingness to serve our country after learning about the evil that unfolded in the France over the weekend.

He said he plans to join the Armed Forces (he didn't mention which branch on the call).

"I've always been a big supporter of the service, and now there's not a better time than now to go stand up for our country and our beliefs because everyone deserves freedom," Thomas said.

He said a difference in beliefs doesn't justify what happened in Paris.

"I'm 24, and a lot of people my age don't share my beliefs," said Thomas. "But we're the new generation, we're the ones that can stand up, and go out and fight for our country and fight for what we believe in, and put a stand and put a stop to this because someone has to. And it's a long time overdue that we did something about this now."

Thomas wasn't alone in his standpoint either. Other callers, including a 19-year-old Basking Ridge caller by the name of Maverick, expressed a drive to protect American lives and values by joining the military.

According to Tony, a 21-year-old in New Brunswick, people keep making excuses that only a small portion of the population is committing these acts of evil, but this small group of people has changed the face of the world, and it's time to fight back.

Are you someone who feels motivated to join the U.S. armed forces in light of current events? Let me know in the comments section below, or by tweeting @nj1015.
