A Tornado Watch has been canceled for central and southern counties in New Jersey as mild temperatures bring concerns about flooding, severe thunderstorms and fog.

The Tornado Watch was issued for most of the state early on Friday afternoon as strong thunderstorms , brought heavy rain and strong winds created favorable conditions for tornadoes.Those storms have moved off the coast.

A Flood Advisory mains in effect for Hunterdon, Morris, Mercer, Morris, Somerset, Middlesex, Burlington, Monmouth and Ocean counties until 6:45 p.m. as a combination of heavy rain, snow melt, frozen ground and snow covered storm drains could lead to some minor flooding.

A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect for Passaic, Hudson, Bergen, Essex and Union counties until 5:00 p.m. because of low visibility,

Newark has flight delays of 90minutes and dozens of flights are being canceled at Newark, LaGuardia and Philadelphia according to FlightAware.com. Flights are also being held because of fog and thunderstorms.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Gloucester, Camden, Burlington, Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset, Hunterdon and Morris Counties until tonight as warm air and periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms create the threat of minor flooding along rivers and streams.The thunderstorms could contain heavy rain and strong winds. Homeowners should also be aware of the chance of basement flooding created by snow thawing from frozen ground warns the Times of Trenton. The snow melt threat will continue through Saturday.

Melting ice on rivers may also create ice jams which could lead to flooding. Lanes on Route 29 in Trenton were closed on Thursday because of flooding from the Delaware River according to New Jersey Fast Traffic.

Meteorologist Alan Kasper says winter is not done with us as the Polar Vortex will influence our weather next week. Temperatures will again drop into the teens and 20s next week and there is the threat of snow on Tuesday or Wednesday.
