A Grassy Sound home in Middle Township getting swept off its pilings, into the bay during New Jersey's weekend storm was a welcome sign for some.

Neighbors tell NJ.com that the vacant house was a structurally unsound nuisance and that it was only a matter of time before it was swept away.

Middle Township police tell The Press of Atlantic City that the home has been settling and “falling into the channel” for years.

The home, owned by Stuart Tait since 1992, was not connected to utilities or insured.

Neighbors aren't just upset with Tait. NJ.com reports that they also point the finger at township officials, whow they claim ignored complaints about Tait's house for years.

A GoFundMe.com page has been started to help Tait pay for the removal of debris from the water. As of Wednesday morning, it had raised about $1,400.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
