Middle-Aged Pair Found Slain In Newark Home

A middle-aged man and woman have been found dead in a home in Newark in what authorities are calling an apparent homicide.

The bodies of the victims were discovered by police at about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at a residence on South 11th Street in the city's West Ward.

The Essex County prosecutor's office identified one victim as 54-year-old Ruby Green. The second victim was a 64-year-old man who was not immediately identified pending notification of family.

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while Green died at University Hospital a short time later.

The cause of death wasn't disclosed pending results of an autopsy.
