Menendez, Kyrillos Meet on Twitter

New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez and his likely Republican rival have met in cyberspace.

The Democratic incumbent held a Twitter town hall on Wednesday to discuss oil and gas prices, and state Sen. Joe Kyrillos joined in.

The town hall got off to a slow start before Menendez began fielding questions about fuel efficiency, foreign oil dependency and electric cars.

A person who tweeted before the event started asked Menendez how many people he's lied to. Another asked, "why are you so awesome?" Another tweeted to Menendez in Spanish.

Menendez answered constituents' tweets but ignored Kyrillos, who criticized the senator and his proposed legislation ending oil subsidies. Kyrillos is seeking the GOP nomination to challenge Menendez in November.
