NEW YORK (AP) -- Mason Plumlee scored a season-high 18 points and had 10 rebounds, and the Brooklyn Nets broke open a close game in the fourth quarter to beat the Philadelphia 76ers 88-70 on Friday night.

Joe Johnson and Alan Anderson each had 12 points for the Nets.

Robert Covington had 20 points for the 76ers, an NBA-worst 2-20. Michael Carter-Williams added 14 points and nine assists.

The Nets entered the fourth quarter with a 63-60 lead.

However, the 76ers did not score again until Covington hit a 3-pointer with 6:56 left. The Nets opened the period on a 10-0 run and increased it to 18 on newcomer Darius Morris' dunk with three seconds remaining.

The 76ers shot 4 for 15 from the field in the fourth quarter after going 4 for 19 in the third. For the game, Philadelphia shot 31.9 percent (18 for 54) and committed 23 turnovers.

The Nets, after shooting only 8 for 23 in the third, improved to 9 for 17 in the fourth as they took control of the game.

With Brooklyn down 16-12, Plumlee's dunk with 3:35 left in the first quarter ignited a 16-2 run that carried over into the second quarter. The Nets opened their biggest lead of the half, 28-18, when Cory Jefferson capped the streak on a short jumper with 10:24 remaining.

However, the 76ers scored the next eight points and went on to regain the lead right before halftime, as Henry Sims' dunk with 30 seconds left gave Philadelphia a 45-44 halftime advantage.

Sergey Karasev had 11 points and Deron Williams added 10 assists for the Nets.

Henry Sims had 14 points and Tony Wroten scored 12 for the 76ers.

76ers: Prior to the game, Philadelphia called up Ronald Roberts from its NBA Development League Affiliate, the Delaware 87ers. He started all eight games for them this season, averaging team highs of 18 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 67 percent from the floor. Jorge Gutierrez, acquired with Andrei Kirilenko from the nets on Thursday, was waived to make room. ... The 76ers have lost five straight on the road to the Nets and still are winless in Brooklyn.

Nets: Johnson returned to the Nets' lineup after missing the previous two games with the flu. ... Coming into the game, the Nets had lost three straight by an average of 23.7 points. ... Morris, signed on Friday, played in 12 games for the 76ers in 2013-14, averaging 6.9 points, 1.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 16.3 minutes per game.
