Producers Joan Raffe, Jhett Tolentino and Douglas Denoff said Tuesday that Thomas will again star when Tony Award-winning playwright Joe DiPietro's "Clever Little Lies" opens at the Westside Theatre in September.

In the play, Thomas portrays a woman trying to help her son save his marriage after an affair. The playwright's credits include the Broadway hits "Memphis" and "Nice Work If You Can Get It."

The play starred Thomas when it premiered in 2013 at the George Street Playhouse in New Jersey, and she also headlined it when it played at Guild Hall on Long Island last year.

Thomas's career spans 50 years and countless stage and television roles, perhaps the most famous of which were the lead in the London production of the Neil Simon comedy "Barefoot in the Park" and Ann Marie in "That Girl," one of the first TV comedy series about a single, independent woman. Thomas herself is married to TV talk-show pioneer Phil Donahue.

"Clever Little Lies," directed by the George Street Playhouse's artistic director, David Saint, begins previews on Sept. 18 and opens Oct. 14.
