MARLBORO, N.J. (AP) — A central New Jersey police officer escaped serious injury when his cruiser skidded on an icy road and crashed into a curb.

Marlboro Township police say Patrolman Michael Haroun was on routine patrol when the crash occurred Sunday afternoon. He was traveling east on Route 520 in the Monmouth County community when he skidded, and authorities say no other vehicles were involved.

A colleague took Haroun to a hospital, where he was treated for undisclosed minor injuries and later released.

The cruiser suffered extensive damage.
