NJ101.5 has partnered with local animal rescue organizations EASEL Animal Rescue League and Friends of EMAS (Edison Municipal Animal Shelter) to feature adoptable local pets in need of homes. Help us find these pets homes by sharing this information with family members and friends who may be interested in adopting a shelter pet.

Adopt Marilyn

Marilyn is a beautiful and affectionate FIV-positive cat. She has been living at the Edison Municipal Animal Shelter for six months. Marilyn is 12 years old and lived with two other cats, who do not have FIV. Both of her housemates have been adopted, but Marilyn is still waiting. She is very lovable and really just wants to cuddle up in your arms. Marilyn’s big, jewel green eyes light up when our volunteers walk by her kennel. She is a stunning, petite calico girl, with medium long fur. She has remained healthy while living at the shelter. Our veterinarian is currently treating Marilyn for some skin irritation that is probably stress-related. We recently ran some blood work and her kidney levels were slightly off, so she has been put on a prescription food diet. Marilyn is still a frisky little girl who is so deserving a family to love.

If you're interested in meeting Marilyn or fostering/adopting her, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org. You can see more adoptable cats from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Falcor

Falcor was found in the parking lot at Parkway School in Ewing Township. He has multiple, old wounds on his neck and head consistent with fighting. His paw was also cut.  Despite his generally bad condition, Falcor is very friendly and is not too reactive to dogs that pass by his run at the Ewing Animal Shelter. We have worked with Falcor and he is a wonderful dog that is great with people. Falcor does not pull on his leash constantly, but he likes to quickly take off!  He was probably abused and mistreated, so he tends to be cautious and will flinch if you raise your hand. As soon as he knows you, he will bury his head in your lap. Falcor deserves a good home to make up for whatever he had to go through previously.

If you’re interested in learning more about Falcor or to schedule a visit, email dogs@easelnj.org. Find more of EASEL’s adoptable dogs and puppies here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Buddy

Come meet our newest family member at the Edison Municipal Animal Shelter. His name is Buddy and it fits him perfectly because he will be your buddy for life. We believe he might be a Border Collie mixed with a Flat Coated retriever. He is a very smart, fun boy with a lot of energy who would make a great companion and exercise partner. He is a very young dog so he still has that innocent, puppy sweetness about him.  Since he is still very young, he is a little jumpy when you first start out to walk him on a leash, but he walks like a pro once he settles down. Buddy is in his glory when he plays in the snow and runs around. He loves to play fetch with a tennis ball and he will bring it right back to you to throw it again and again! He does not mind being handled, and will allow our volunteers to clean the snowballs out from between his paw pads after a fun day playing in the snow. Buddy gets along with other dogs and likes to play with them. Buddy is one terrific dog that would love to come home with you.

If you're interested in meeting Buddy or fostering/adopting him, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org. You can see more adoptable dogs from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Samantha

Samantha is a sweet, black kitten at the Ewing Animal Shelter. She has expressive eyes and a warm heart. This little girl is in need of a home to call her own. The perfect home for Samantha is one where she can be an only child. Samantha can be skittish, so extra love and cuddles are in order. Please consider adding this little fur ball into your family. It will make all the difference in the world for her.

To schedule a visit to meet Samantha, please email kitty@easelnj.org or call 609-883-0540. You can find more of EASEL’s adoptable cats and kittens here, or download a PDF copy of the application form here.
