MAPLEWOOD — A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged with killing his father early Wednesday morning.

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray said Taylor Reason has been charged with the murder of Wesley Reason after police were called to the family home at 2:30 a.m. for a report of an assault.

Murray said the elder Reason was found suffering from "blunt force injuries," and unresponsive when police arrived at the home. He was pronounced dead shortly later. Murray said the investigation is ongoing and the exact cause of death has not been determined.

According to NJ.com, Wesley Reason was a quality control supervisor for The Vitamin Shoppe.

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Wesley Reason and send our heartfelt condolences to his family during this very difficult time," a company statement was quoted as saying.

Taylor Reason was being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
