A man was killed and a co-worker injured as they worked on a new staircase in the building on Maplewood Avenue last Friday. The restaurant was also ordered closed until repairs are made to the restaurant which has been open since 2010.

A "Girls Night Out" shopping event to benefit the servers, bartenders and other staff of Coda takes place on Thursday starting at 6 p.m.  Stores in Maplewood will have "tip jars" out for donations along with specials and entertainment.

A special fund will also be set up by Keller Williams Midtown Direct Realty and the Maplewood Village Alliance to support the families of the worker who died in the collapse of the Coda floor and his injured co-worker.

"We are devastated by the injuries and the loss of life and our hearts go out to the affected families," said oo-owners Bradley Takahashi and Luke Finn."We also appreciate the outpouring of love and support from the community during this trying time and we look forward to serving you again as soon possible."
