FRANKLIN (Somerset) — The suspect in a North Brunswick stabbing murder is still on the run and facing first-degree murder charges, according to police.

Isaiah J. Bell is accused of stabbing James M. Kargbo, 24, who was found bleeding heavily inside a car along Route 27,  Somerset County Acting Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.

Kargbo's 6-year-old son was also in the car.

Shots fired in the nearby area of Westminster Road and Coventry Lane had been reported to police, according to Robertson. He said Kargbo and Bell were involved in a physical fight.

North Brunswick and Franklin Township police found Kargbo bleeding profusely and began to perform CPR before he was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he died, according to Robertson.

Kargbo, entered his vehicle, which his 6-year-old son was sitting in, and attempted to drive onto Route 27, Robertson said. Kargbo’s vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a nearby medical building.

The 6-year-old was not injured in the crash or incident and was released to a family member, Robertson said.

Tuesday, a post-mortem examination found Kargbo was killed by sharp-force injury to his chest — not gunfire.

Robertson said the four-door sedan Bell used to leave the area was recovered.

Robertson said anyone with information about the incident or Bell's whereabouts should contact the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit at 908-231-7100 or the Franklin Township Police Department 732-873-2300.
