Manalapan Olympian Robby Andrews was disqualified following a controversial decision during the Summer Games in Rio.

The 2009 Manalapan High School graduate was disqualified near the end of the 1500 semifinal when he came in contact with Mekonnen Gebremedhin of Ethiopia causing Andrews to go off the track and then back on again for an apparent fifth place finish, according to NJ Advance Media.

Andrews was disqualified under IAAF rule 163.4 that states by going off the track a runner gains a "material advantage."  According to a tweet from the USATF, an appeal of the decision was denied.

In a press release Andrews called it a "stupid mistake," according to the news site
