Brian Clements of Manalapan was ordered Monday to serve eight years for vehicular homicide. He also received a consecutive 5-year sentence for leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

The 53-year-old Clements had pleaded guilty last December to charges stemming from the March 2012 crash.

Middlesex County prosecutors say Clements was drunk and speeding when his sport utility vehicle struck 52-year-old Silvia Reyes-Ramos in New Brunswick. Investigators were able to trace the vehicle to Clements, who had the SUV repaired after the crash.

Ramos, the mother of three adult daughters and a 9-year-old son, died several hours after she was struck.
