CLIFTON — A drunken car crash left one person dead and two others injured on the morning after Christmas, police say.

Clifton resident Louis Yanez, 32, was driving his 2009 black Infinity the wrong way down Route 46 around 5 a.m. on Monday when he struck a Honda CRV carrying three other people, police told NJ Advance Media.

The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene, and two other passengers were taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, according to the report. Authorities told NJ Advance Media it was not immediately clear whether Yanez was injured.

Yanez was charged with one count of second-degree death by auto and two counts of third-degree assault by automobile, according to the report. His bail was set at $250,000.

The Clifton Police Department did not immediately return a call for comment Tuesday afternoon.
