Port Authority Police spokesman Joe Pentangelo says it happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at United Airlines Gate 74.

Pentangelo says the man passed through an alarmed door and walked onto the jet way.

Police took him into custody. The aircraft and surroundings were checked and deemed safe.

Pentangelo says the man was a ticketed passenger who had apparently missed his connection to Fort Lauderdale. His name has not been released.
