A South Orange man was seriously injured when a tree fell on him Thursday afternoon in the South Mountain Reservation, NJ.com has reported.

The 51-year old man and an unidentified woman were walking near a spot known as Painter's Point, just off Brookside Drive, when a tree fell, striking the man, the article states.

Emergency crews from West Orange and Millburn responded after the Essex County Sheriff's Office was notified at about 4:30 p.m. First responders worked to rescue the victim, who was then transported via medivac helicopter to University Hospital in Newark for serious injuries to his face and other areas.

The man's condition and name have not been released.
