Man struck and killed by NJ Transit train near Hazlet

An unidentified pedestrian was struck and killed by an eastbound New Jersey Transit train near the Hazlet station early Tuesday, the Asbury Park Press is reporting.

The report quotes an NJ Transit spokesperson as saying the incident occurred at 5:25 a.m. on the North Jersey Coast line and involved a train moving from Red Bank to Matawan-Aberdeen.

The Hazlet station was also the scene of a September incident in which a 17-year-old Raritan High School Student was struck and killed by an early morning eastbound train.
