Philadelphia police say a man was detained around 6 a.m. Thursday after a suspicious item was spotted in his carry-on luggage.

Officer Christine O'Brien says the items appear to be fireworks and may have been left in the bag accidentally. She says there are no initial indications the incident is related to terrorism but the police, FBI and TSA are investigating.

A spokeswoman for the airport says the suspicious item was first noticed at 5:46 a.m. at a security checkpoint. Police took a person for questioning and the checkpoint opened about a half-hour later. No flights were delayed.
