JERSEY CITY — Prosecutors say a man accused of fatally stabbing his mother and grandmother in their Jersey City home is now facing murder charges.

Kevin Hodges also faces weapons counts stemming from Monday night's attack. But authorities haven't said what provoked the incident.

Authorities found a sword, meat cleaver and kitchen knife covered in blood inside the home, NJ.com reported, citing court documents.

Hudson County prosecutors say 56-year-old Rebecca Hodges and her 76-year-old mother, Dorothy Bradshaw, both suffered multiple stab wounds.

Police went to their Randolph Avenue home shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday after a 911 caller reported that someone was screaming for help at the residence. Officers had to use a fire escape to get inside and they soon found the two women unresponsive.

Both were taken to a hospital where they were pronounced dead a short time later.

It wasn't known Tuesday if the 36-year-old Hodges has retained an attorney.
