Man shot by police in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) -- The Hudson County prosecutor's office says a man is in critical condition after being shot by a Jersey City police officer.

The Jersey Journal reports the man was shot Tuesday in the backyard of a home on Ege Avenue.
A spokesman for the Jersey City Medical Center says the man went into surgery shortly after 5:30 p.m.
