Man Pleads Not Guilty to Wife’s Slaying in Boonton
A New York man and a Massachusetts woman have pleaded not guilty in a New Jersey court to charges stemming from the fatal shooting of the man's wife.
Kashif Parvaiz and Antoinette Stephen face murder, conspiracy and weapons charges in the killing of Nazish Noorani last August. The 27-year-old Noorani was shot while walking with her husband, Parvaiz, and their 3-year-old son in the northern New Jersey suburb of Boonton.
The Daily Record reports that the defendants entered their pleas during separate arraignments in a Morris County courtroom on Monday.
Parvaiz remains in custody on $3 million bail. Stephen is being held on $5 million bail.
Parvaiz claimed their attackers called the Pakistani-American couple "terrorists," but prosecutors claim text messages link Parvaiz and Stephen to the attack.
