Jerome Wright of Newark also pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of armed robbery and now faces a 39-year prison term when he's sentenced later this year. Wright's girlfriend and accomplice, Nashali Gadson of Newark, also was in court Wednesday and pleaded guilty to armed robbery charges.

Passaic County prosecutors say the detective, 32-year-old Michael Morgan was at the club for a friend's party. Morgan was walking a dancer to her car when Wright tried to rob them, and Wright said he shot Morgan when the detective tried to get his gun.
