GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP — A man was killed in an apartment fire early Sunday morning.

Gloucester Township Police said a man was pronounced dead at the at scene of the fire in a 2nd floor apartment in building D of the Blackwood Falls Apartment on Washington Avenue in the Blackwood section of town.

The man's 10-year-old daughter and wife were also hospitalized. Police did not disclose the family's identity.

18 residents from 8 apartments were displaced by the fire and were assisted by the Red Cross to find temporary shelter, according to police, who expected will be able to return to this apartment on Sunday.

6 ABC Action News reported an ambulance crew was the first to arrive and start pulling people out.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety and the Gloucester Township Investigations Bureau.
