Man Indicted in Deadly Elizabeth Brawl
A northern New Jersey man accused of fatally stabbing the boyfriend of his child's mother during a brawl this summer has been indicted on aggravated manslaughter charges.
Union County prosecutors say 24-year-old Saint Merilan of Newark was also charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses in the indictment handed up by a county grand jury late last week.
The charges stem from an August brawl in Elizabeth involving Merilan and 25-year-old Marchkenson Flobert. Authorities have not said what sparked the fight, but they say it ended with Merilan stabbing Flobert.
A phone number for Merilan could not be located Wednesday, and it was not known if he has retained a lawyer.
