Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemier in a statement says Jermaine McCain, 36, is accused of calling in a bomb threat to Trenton Police dispatch last Thursday. A investigation by state and federal offices led to McCain hiding out in Bensalem, Pennsylvania on Tuesday afternoon.

NJ.com reports that according to a detective, McCain did not want to appear in court because he "had things to do." Kemier did not say why McCain was needed to appear in court.

McCain led police on a chase in a Lexus on Route 1 in Bucks County north from Bensalem into Middletown before crashing in Penndel, where he was taken into custody after hitting a car uninvolved in the crash, according to Levittownnow.com. A second accident on Route 1 also took place during the chase; Penndel police have not yet brought charges in either incident.

McCain is charged with making a false public alarm and placing a 911 call without actual emergency. He is currently being held on $50,000 bail at the Bucks County Jail in Doylestown.
