Man gets 9 years in prison for killing estranged wife’s boyfriend
MOUNT HOLLY — A man who fatally stabbed his estranged wife’s boyfriend has been sentenced to nine years in prison.
John Borger IV was convicted by a Burlington County jury in May of passion-provoked manslaughter. He was acquitted, however, of the more serious murder charge.
The 41-year-old Maple Shade man was accused of stabbing to death Mark Brooks, 44, outside his apartment in November 2013.
Prosecutors say Borger brought a knife to confront Brooks. Borger’s estranged wife found Brooks’ body the next morning and police recovered the knife.
Months before the slaying, Borger had been charged with violating a restraining order protecting his wife.
