Man found stoned to death in Atlantic City trash can, police say

ATLANTIC CITY — A city man has been arrested and charged with leaving another man for dead in a trash can.

Thomas Green, 64, of Atlantic City, hit Ricky L. Ward, 52, also of Atlantic City, multiple times with stones and left him in the trash can on Adriatic Avenue on Saturday morning, according to Atlantic County Acting Prosecutor Diane Ruberton.

Ward was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ruberton said Green was arrested late on Saturday afternoon and charged with murder for purposely and knowingly causing Ward's death. He faces 30 years to life if convicted.

Green was being held pending $1 million cash bail at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Authorities have not yet said whether the men knew each other, or what lead to the alleged attack.
